My Captured Moment – First Family Camping Trip

It’s the first time that we’ve been camping together as a family and it was a trip that was planned for a long time. My husband got all the camping gear together so all I had to do was pack for the kids and myself and turn up which was great!

Unfortunately the weather was pretty rubbish when we got to the campsite… so the first challenge was putting up the tent for the first time in the rain!

After a few arguments and some swearing we managed to put up our family tent which has two bedrooms so perfect for two adults and two children.

The kids absolutely loved our little adventure and Leo just had the best time running around and discovering the campsite!

The next day we woke up to beautiful blue sky and sunshine which made the whole experience so much better! We had a lovely long breakfast outside in the sun and then the kids went to play on the playground.

We only went for one night on this camping trip. We survived (yay!) and I even managed to squeeze the tent back into the bag so pretty proud of ourselves!

At lunch time we went into Henley and had a lovely, well deserved pub lunch (we are only camping beginners afterall – we’ll work on the cooking outside bit next time!)

We hired a little boat and did a tour on the Thames before it was time to go home in the late afternoon.

We all really enjoyed it so looking forward to many more camping trips this summer!

  1. It looks like you had so much fun, I am not a camper at all, in fact I have never camped Chris and the boys would love too. Maybe one day I will be brave but the pub lunch will be a condition x

  2. Hi Christine, I remember enjoying camping as a child, but I’m not sure I would enjoy it now. Maybe if the weather was warm and the ‘bed’ was comfy I would. It’s fantastic that your little ones enjoyed it though, everything seems like an adventure when your small and sleeping ‘rough’.

    xx

    1. That’s what I thought as well! I wasn’t sure if I would like it now but I did! Not sure if I would go on the three weeks camping holiday but I can definitely manage a night or two 😉

  3. I’m looking forward to taking my grandsons camping, if we have half as much fun as you & your family we’ll have had an amazing holiday

  4. Our first camping trip was hot but we had ants nests everywhere and they took over our tent which put us camping again for a long time !

  5. It sounds like you had a good time. I went camping when I was younger for a few nights and remember it being really cold.

  6. It look like so much fun. I have never been camping, however my children have. I’m thinking of doing a family camping trip
