S Curve Scoliosis Workshop with Christine

Workshop Description

I am offering this special workshop to help de-mystify s curve Scoliosis. What does it mean exactly, which muscles to strengthen/lengthen and what does it mean for your yoga practice. 

S curves (or sometimes also called reversed s curves) are the most common scoliosis curve patterns but even within the category of s curves there are some big differences which are important to consider in your practice. 

In this workshop you will learn about the characteristics of s curve scoliosis and the different compensations are important to know in your movement practice. After a short presentation we will analyse some different examples of s curves (volunteers will be welcome!) and then finish with a movement practice specifically adapted to the challenges of s curve scoliosis. 

You will need:

  • 3 small hand towels
  • 1 yoga block
  • pen and paper 


About the presenter

Christine Jaureguiberry is the creator of Move With Scoliosis (previously Yogaberry), an online Yoga for Scoliosis community, and the host of the popular podcast Back Chat, a resource for all things back care and scoliosis.

Living with scoliosis herself, she brings her extensive training and years of experience to empowering classes, workshops and training for students from all over the world.

Christine is a fully qualified Yoga Alliance Professionals (UK) Yoga Teacher, a Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher, certified Yoga for Scoliosis Teacher (Adelene Cheong & Elise Browning Miller) and APPI Pilates instructor.

In addition to working with experts in the field such as Schroth Therapists and other health professionals, she is constantly exploring the latest research and trends in the field of Scoliosis management, in order to stay up-to-date with the latest developments and insights. 

Please note this workshop is included for SHINE members, our monthly Yoga for Scoliosis membership. If you would like to attend you are welcome to join the membership for a month and enjoy all it's benefits. After that you can either stay on or cancel if you prefer. The workshop is also available for non-members at £60.

  • Curve specific videos - I'm always trying to create videos that will be as relevant as possible. The library is full of videos that members have requested specifically for their curve pattern.
  • Guided meditation and relaxation - scoliosis is more than a physical condition. Meditation and relaxation practices will help you feel more relaxed and balanced both physically and mentally.  
  • Private Facebook group exclusive to SHINE members - connection and community is important with scoliosis! The Facebook group gives you the opportunity to connect with others that are going through the same thing and ask all your questions.

About Me

I had been suffering from back ache since I was a teenager. Due to my left lumbar scoliosis I spent a lot of time (and money) seeing physiotherapists, osteopaths and chiropractors. I was hoping that they would "fix" me! I found those therapies to be helpful but nothing created a lasting effect. 

I gravitated to yoga nearly 20 years ago and made it my mission to pass on the benefits of yoga and what I have learned about scoliosis to others going through the same thing.

I'm a certified Yoga for Scoliosis teacher (studying with teachers such as Elise Miller Browning and Judith Hanson Lasater) and APPI Pilates instructor.  I have taught hundreds of students from all over the world and of all ages that suffer from scoliosis.
