8 things that made me happy this week

It might be something simple like our favourite animal or favourite food but we’ve lately ventured into a bit deeper things like “what do you really like about yourself” or “tell us something that made you happy this week”!

The kids always come up with great things to say but funny enough as adults we seem to have much more of an issue with coming up with something positive to say! Especially if it’s about ourselves! We’re very good as saying what went wrong or what we don’t like about ourselves but when you’re put on the spot you realise how difficult it is to say the opposite.

As a way to practise this myself (nobody is perfect) I’m sharing with you the things that made me happy this week. Things that made me smile, that made me laugh or that made me proud and I invite you to do the same!

Maybe you want to write a blog post about it, maybe you just want to write it down on a piece of paper! Just make sure you write it down!

so here are 8 of the things that made me happy this week:

1. My daughter’s picture

This might not look like a lot to you but I think this is absolutely genius! My daughter is three and a half and let’s say hasn’t really revealed her artistic talents so far and this might look like a simple possibly frightening picture to you BUT you should hear the story that she tells to go with it!

It was just too cute when she came home from nursery and she told me that it was obviously a picture of a big spider with a baby spider. The big spider ate too much and his belly popped (!) and he also hurt his leg which is why he has got a plaster! There is much more to the story but you would have to ask her yourself as I will never do it any justice…

Anyway it made me laugh a lot…

2. My husband taking mother’s day very seriously

My kids are still little so celebrating mother’s day for ME rather than only my husband’s and my mother is still quite new to us. Last year he was still questioning why we should celebrate mother’s day as after all I’m not his mum… I won’t complain as we still had a lovely day going swimming (I was allowed to enjoy a coffee on my own) and going to a restaurant which served I think the spiciest food I’ve ever eaten!

This year I got two beautiful cards, lots of lovely goodies for the bath, a beautiful wine class and most importantly lots of attention! And by that I mainly mean that he took care of the kids all day! We also went to a nice pub with good food and good friends! Perfect mother’s day!

3. My little yoginis

One of the kids from my family yoga class talked about what we were doing in yoga at “show and tell” at school and sent me a lovely picture of herself being very proud! Another one was interviewed for a magazine and said how much she enjoyed it!

It’s just the best thing to hear when you start to doubt yourself after you’ve had a class which you thought was completely out of control… I’m learning so much from those kids and I’m really really grateful for that.

4. Being in the sunshine

Usually when you ask an adult what they are grateful for then sunshine will be quite high up on the list even if it was just a few hours as it usually is the case here in England!

We got a few glimpses of spring this week, daffodils blooming everywhere and just generally being able to be outside makes such a difference to my mood!

5. New opportunities

I got a few new work opportunities this week, new classes coming up and things that I have planned for the blog and website. It’s lovely to see my own progress and some results of the work that I’ve put in over the last year and a half!

6. My grown-up yoga students

My student’s feedback is very important to me and of course I love it when they tell me if they really enjoyed my class. Much more important though is the feedback I had from a private client this week.

She said that what she learned in my class was how to understand her body and help herself! Honestly there is nothing better than that.

7. My son being very caring

My two year old has gone through a little bit of a biting stage (if you ever had a little biter you know how awful this can be for parents) but he was a little angel this week!

He was of course still his cheeky self and was up to all kinds of mischief but at the same time he was very caring with younger kids that he was playing with and just generally very cheerful and happy which makes mummy cheerful and happy too!

8. Lovely comments on the blog

I’m not writing my blog to get likes, feedback or comments – I don’t think it’s ever a good idea to get too caught up in that.

I started it for myself and my family. I continued it for my yoga students. I want it to be useful and inspiring to other people. I want it to be helpful and relatable so when I get comments that say that I have achieved this even a little bit then that makes me very happy! Totally feeding my ego of course…

So these are some of the things on my list this week! What’s on yours…

  1. This is an uplifting post – thanks for sharing all those things 🙂
I also love it when my kids produce some art work – it is great to see the craziness that goes on in their head made real! Their imaginations really are something.
