So I recently told you about how we celebrated British Mother’s Day but i’m German so guess what… This is about German Mother’s Day this Sunday… Because I have a mother too!
Here we are in 1981, me cuddling up with my Mama in bed just like I love to do with my children!
It’s funny how you see these old photos differently when you are a mother yourself! I’m not just thinking ‘oh there is a picture of me in a horrible baby-grow’ but I’m also thinking, my mother probably hasn’t slept in weeks when this photo was taken… and then there is this baby which is obviously wide awake and JUST WON’T SLEEP!!! Maybe it’s really early in the morning, maybe it’s at night, maybe she is trying to get some rest during nap time…
But this is not what this Captured Moment is all about. It’s about unconditional love, the love that a mother has for her child and vice versa. This is again something we only fully understand when we have children ourselves, I think. We would do absolutely anything for our kids, no matter what – they are a part of us and at the same time they are not… we are raising them to be independent, responsible, healthy, loving and happy adults who might one day have children themselves.
They don’t need fancy toys, a big house, designer clothes or all the other stuff. They just need our love.
My mum was only 20 years old when I was born and I can’t imagine what that must have been like but I know it wasn’t always easy. And being a mother myself now, I know that she must have often felt like what she was doing was not enough or she could have done better…
Well, you’ve done a pretty good job, Mama, as I turned out quite well (I think)! Thank you for everything that you have done for me. I don’t always tell you but I love you very much!
Alles Gute zum Muttertag!
Happy Mother’s Day

Hi Christine, I just came back from Oma Lena, my mum. We had a lovely sunny day with lots of food and a few drinks, very relaxing, so I red the blog just now. Thank youâ¤ï¸! You made it easy to love you!!! You’ve been a great child! And in fact, you ARE a better mum than I ever was!! Looking forward to see you, Bertrand and the kids next week.xxx Mama
LOVE LOVE LOVE this!!! I whole heartedly agree with everything you’ve written in this post. This is such a special captured moment and one I totally agree you can only really appreciate when you’re a mother yourself. This is priceless! Thanks so much for linking up to My Captured Moment xxx
Beautiful post!
I remember as a kid thinking I would never be like my mother. Now I’m a mother myself and I totally get my mothers point of view! And I’m happy to become more like her.
Beautiful picture of you and your mum.
