When you have a nearly, but not-quite-yet walking toddler and an almost three year old who gets tired of walking really quickly, the question of how to transport the kids when being out and about usually comes up at some stage! We got rid of our double buggy a couple of months ago as it was taking up too much room and my daughter is usually happy on the buggy board.
When we were on holiday recently, however, we were very happy to have another option for longer walks when usually some has a tantrum at some point…
The ByKay Mei Tai
Cheeky Rascals kindly sent us the ByKay Mei Tai baby carrier to try just in time for our Easter holiday and we have certainly used it a lot!
Little Leo (15 months) is usually the one in the buggy, but when his sister gets extremely grumpy and refuses to walk, stand on the buggy board or do anything else we want her to do, she mostly ends up in the buggy and someone has to carry Leo!
He has outgrown the BabyBjorn we had before the Mei Tai (not the cocktail!) so this is a great option. You can see my mum carrying him on the back but he is actually still small enough to be carried in front as well (great for naps…)
And then the time usually comes when Little Princess Maya decides she has had enough of the buggy, still doesn’t want to walk or be on the buggy board so I can now carry her without my arm falling off after two minutes!
The carrier is quite easy to use (once you’ve read the instructions) and have tried it a few times. Getting the kids in the back position is in my opinion a two people job, even though Maya and I can do it on our own now as we’ve had a bit of practice and she holds on to my shoulders!
She doesn’t look quite convinced in this picture but that is general nearly-three-year-old grumpiness as she does enjoy being carried like this! I still can’t carry her for very long as she weighs about 14kg now, but we’ve got it as another option to keep everyone happy!
As it doesn’t take up much space we usually take it with us on any trips or excursions and we’ve pretty much ended up using it every single time!
Disclosure: we were sent this product free of charge, however, all opinions expressed are 100% my own
Oooh this looks great, I never tried a mei tai but had a few other carriers when my daughter was younger x
yes, it’s good! And I’m so happy I can use it for both kids!
I definitely think back carrys are easier as they get bigger and are able to help a bit! Looks a good all round carrier. Thanks for linking up with #TriedTested
Yes it’s great! Carrying on the back is definitely much easier… My nearly three year old loves it!
I’ve not tried a Mei Tei myself but I’m a big fan of baby wearing and regularly carry my 17mo
Thanks for linking up with #TriedTested this week x
