Tropical Green Smoothie

I had never tried Coconut Water before but it’s full of potassium and helps to hydrate the body after a good yoga session or any other workout (or you have a hangover)! Apparently it also reverses the ageing process so that’s good enough for me!!

This is great as a healthy, mid-afternoon snack with the kids when you’re at home, it’s cold outside and you need a bit of cheering up! Just turn the heating up and pretend you’re on a tropical island! (I keep thinking about adding some rum to my glass but that would kind of defeat it’s purpose…)

Recipe for 1 adult, 1 toddler and 1 baby:

1 ripe Mango
1-2 Bananas
1 handful of fresh spinach leaves
250ml of Coconut Water

Mix everything together in the blender and enjoy!

I would love to say that my two year old gulped down the green smoothie when she saw it but even with trying different cups, glasses and straws she wasn’t having any of it! She obviously figured out that I really wanted her to try it, so she did what every sensible toddler who wants to annoy his Mummy would do: pressed her lips together, turned her head and then shouted “no Mummy, you drink it!!”.

So the baby and I enjoyed our yummy Tropical Smoothie alone to start with!

Three hours later I casually gave her another plastic cup filled with this delicious smoothie and without a second thought she drank it all! Yay! Success!!!

Have you tried any home-made smoothies or juices with your kids? What’s your favourite?
