15 Reasons Why I’m Grateful Today

1. I’m grateful for sleeping without waking up once from 2am to 6.30am

2. I’m grateful for having two kids under the age of three – after both kids being up a lot the last two nights and one of them being poorly, I could stay in bed and watch Peppa Pig until 8.30am

3. I’m grateful that the apple juice that was thrown across the room in anger did not land on my laptop or the walls

4. I’m grateful that my washing machine works very well

5. I’m grateful for the effectiveness of paracetamol (baby and mummy)

6. I’m grateful that I have covered all chairs with cheap replaceable IKEA cushions which don’t look that much worse with pink marker stains on them

7. I’m grateful for One Direction – they make my baby dance along to their songs and momentarily forget that he is poorly and just wants to be carried around all day

8. I’m grateful for the terrible English weather today as it means I don’t have to go to the playground but can play hide and seek with my toddler at home

9. I’m grateful that probably only our direct neighbours heard the toddler and baby screaming today.

10. I’m grateful I had 20 minutes to myself today to write this down

11. I’m grateful that there were no staples in the stapler that my toddler wanted to try out on her baby brother

12. I’m grateful for our stairs. They keep me fit as I seem to go up and down about 100 times all day

13. I’m grateful that I’ve got two arms and two children who want to be carried around. Perfect! (Also see 12.)

14. I’m grateful for the Thomas & Friends pasta shapes I found at the back of the cupboard so I didn’t have to cook

15. I’m grateful for having had baby wipes nearby when my toddler inspected each pasta shape in tomato sauce individually with her hands and then wiped her face and clothes

But most of all I’m grateful for my beautiful family… love you all, even when you’re grumpy and annoying.
